Well, I drove 6000 miles in 3 weeks.

I went to... 4 different countries.

I saw Tim twice, George once, Trent Willmon twice. I played in New Orleans, Cancun, and Las Vegas.

I wrote 37 books, started two new imprints, got a child graduated from high school and started in college. We've pottytrained two puppies, bought a new car, got hugs from Cord McCoy AND Greg Potter.

2007 saw a lot of wonderfulness. I have high hopes for 2008.

Dude... Three Bacon-Related Facts.

1. Club crackers layered with parmesan cheese and wrapped in bacon and slow-cooked for three hours? Rock.

2. When you have an inch of bacon grease and you add leftover canned potatoes, be very, very, very, very, very careful, unlike I was this morning. The grease splattered seven feet and the potatoes turned themselves over and my kitchen is. Uh. Shining. And slick.

back, busy, happy

had an absolutely perfect holiday - I was spoiled rotten.

Best gifts? I got the entire series of X-Files, Manda made me a quilt, there was Scrabble Express (too fun!) and clothes. Lorna made baklava, Larry made ham, the girls made gingerbread houses. I made a quadruple batch of chocolate chip cookie dough and gave the family 8 different types of chips and 3 different types of nuts and told them to experiment. :D

All-in-all, I'm bouncy and back to the job.

At least until my birthday where Larry and Lorna are taking me to see George Strait and then on a three day cruise!

I need a couple of days of cleaning and cooking, of eating and movies and games and enjoying my family. Lorna and I are going to make more cookies tomorrow, there will be Chex mix and we have a Chinese checker game planned.

but I'm a shitty sibling.

No. Really.

Maybe in fact, obviously.

None of my siblings - no matter how they're related to me - give a good god damn about me and I know it.

If it was one of them, or two, I could say it was them, but it's not. It's me.

I could lie and say I was going to change and become someone they'd like, but I'm not, so...

I guess I'll just keep on being me.

key lime bars, buffy marathon and craving chili cheese fries

I made Amanda key lime bars today and we're working and watching Buffy (as there's zip on TV). I'm tired and a little stoned and wanted chili cheese fries like crazy.

(Which is *so* weird, as we had chicken goo for supper and I ate)

Mother's dogs sent our dogs Christmas cards. I have the huge urge to go see Dale in Maine.

I need to figure out what to get Tiff for her baby shower...

I've been sick. I'm still not 100% and I'm busy, but I'm trying.

We've made pralines (which didn't work), peanut butter bonbons (which did work), peanut butter blossoms, maple leaves, snickerdoodles and shortbread (OMG, *so* good).

All the business and personal gifts and cards have been sent. 1/2 of Lorna's Christmas is here, all of Larry's and Amanda's is here.

Goob pooed on the floor and I need a nap and to finish 500 words and Amanda wants me to make her sausage pie for breakfast. It's hot (the ac is on, goddamn it), my face is going to explode and I have 1098409 hours of work to do today.

Okay - enough of that.

Good things.

There's sausage defrosted, a roast in the fridge for tonight and a turkey defrosting for tomorrow.

Amanda's feeling better.

I'm going to paint a cookie platter at the Ceramic Lodge at 2pm.

I only have 500 words to do and I'll be solid.

The pups are healthy, Shadow is healthy and I've had Lil for a good long time (she's not doing well, I'm not going to have her much longer and this is breaking my heart a little).

M&M Cookies

Today, we have M&M cookies, by request of the kiddo.

Simple. Easy. Yummy.

1 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 t. vanilla
2 1/4 c. flour
1 t. salt
1 t. baking soda
1 bag M&M

Cream butter and sugars until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix dry ingredients and mix into wet. Add M&Ms.

Cook at 375 for 11 minutes. :D
