I have a donut shaped like a pumpkin
and another shaped like a candy corn.
*grins*
Life isn't bad. ;-)
Yesterday I wanted falafel - I blame Guy Fiori because he was on the Food Network with some diner that was making some yummy-looking falafel. So, I whined and the boy said he'd take me for Greek food. I poked Lorna, she headed over. Off we went.
Toodle toodle.
Hit the busiest little post office on earth, then the Interstate, lalala.
Walked up to Zorba's, which had just closed.
I might have pouted.
We had sushi instead, which was nice and easy on the stomach and I stopped pouting and a good time was had by all. Especially when Lorna said, "You know, we could make falafel for supper..."
Now, my reaction was, "you can *make* falafel?"
Then we headed to the store. (Where we bought Greek food fixins, the movie Christine, plastic crochet hooks for Lorna, and a new Rotato. God, I do love the entire *idea* of my Rotato.)
Hummus? Hummus I know how to make (although I do need Lorna there to taste and go, "No, Shawn. More lemon juice." Also, I have the tahini-est tahini in the history of tahini...). Meatballs? The boy was on it like white on rice. Ginger cookies? *does the dance of Lorna made ginger cookies which are my *favorite* of all time cookies*
The falafel?
Well...
Let's see.
Uh.
After trying to find the stick blender, resorting to the food processor, adding a LOT more flour and breadcrumbers, heating the oil, watching the falafel turn into goo and make falafel oil (which, while interesting is not... uh... edible), reshaping the cute little sticky balls into patties, heating up the griddle, finding the olive oil, and griddling those suckers for a long while, well, we had falafel.
Which didn't taste too bad.
The texture was for crap and the color left a little to be desired (think garbonzo bean, onion-studded pancakes...), but, all-in-all, it wasn't a total loss.
Next time? We'll pick up a new stick blender at the store and moosh the chickpeas *before* adding the onion...
*grins*

HAHAHA.
That was the grin I needed today. :) Also? I love the word (or not-word) "moosh".

I walked past a falaffel restaurant (and a humus bar - same street) today and thought of you... (November!)
