*wiggles toes*
My daughter?
Well, she passed the THEA (which is the official gee-you-passed-high-school test). She's at Austin Community College right now, looking into classes. She's flying to Dallas tonight to spend a long weekend with her grandparents.
In three weeks, give or take, she'll be eighteen.
I was seventeen when I got pregnant with her, still in high school, and I spent hours telling myself that, if I did this, if I had this baby and did right by her, then I could go have the fun, the life I wanted and I'd still be young - 36. I'd still be able to have a ball.
I was right.
I am having the life I imagined for myself, in an admittedly sideways-way.
What I didn't know then was that the eighteen years of raising a child? That was the most amazing part of the life I wanted. I didn't know then that I'd love her just as fiercely watching her pack for her first real trip or backing the car out of the driveway as I did the afternoon she was born. I loved her then because it was a biological imperative.
I love her now because she's... Manda.

She is a wonderful kid and I have amazed and flustered by her in turns. It has been a joy and an honor being involved in her growing up. Lord knows she's provided us with some of the most fabulous memories in the last 18 years. Not to mention embarassing stories we can tell people about her for years. ;)
I was so tickled when she called about the THEA results. And I know her Nanna and Papaw and very proud of her too.
You're almost to the finish line. Time to go move to that island with the cabana boys. *snort*

Okay, lady, you're not supposed to make me all choked up on my first day back from vacation. ;-) Buy YAY for her, and congrats to you, too, momma. :D
Also? I'm 38 with a two year old. Good thing I did my goofing off in my twenties... O.O
