Auntie Pooh's Place

Food, quilts, gardens, dogs. Cookbooks, romances, thrillers, and bad shark movies. This is what Auntie Pooh's are made of.

Worked. Pottered. Watered. Cleaned. Made ten pounds of meatballs. Did an emergency project for the job.

Yep. Exciting.

;-)

L comes tomorrow. I'll squeak. It'll be great.

Leans

If I had my druthers I'd be in Monterey right now, walking along the beach and watching the chipmunks.

*nods*

Yep.

That's where I'd be, right this second, if wishes were horses. ;-)

New Flower Garden

As I'm too pooped to pop today, I'm going to just share pictures. This is my new flower garden - there are pepper and mexican heather planted in the front, pampas grass planted in the middle and black elephant ears in the back. Daddy brought me the stones and the amazon baby did most of the heavy lifting.

It survived the weekend's huge rain.

Oh, as an aside - we stopped at the paleteria today. Pineapple paletas. Uhn. Next time I'm getting limon. Or mango. Maybe pistachio...

Father's Day

So, I'm a daddy's girl.

Unapologetically, unequivocally, undoubtedly.

Part of it's genetic - I am related to a load of daddy's girls. I'm named after one. It's a natural state of being.

Most of it is just that I have a great daddy. *nods* Really.

Daddy,

Happy father's day. I love you *this* much and couldn't ask for a better daddy.

Checking In

Lord, it's been a week or two.

I swear I'll be back posting by Monday - life is insane. The husband had emergency surgery last Friday and we're still dealing with complications from that. Things are continuing apace, though, and I have pictures of a new flower bed, A's newest cake, etc. I found a fabulous fabric catalog, have tickets for a fun show on the 1st and have my business partner moving here on the 22nd.

First, though. I have to get my house back together and my schedule on track.

Monday? I'll be regular again.

at work

The first real day of recovery after an episode is like waking up after a really deeply cracked nightmare. There's all this adrenaline and energy and panic, but it feels good because you're awake and the monster is back in the closet and the sun is coming up ANY minute and you don't have to go back to bed. Then there's that little buzz, that nay-say voice that says, "yeah, but you can't stay awake *forever*."

Today's my first real day. Yesterday was better, but marginal. Today I'm not on the pain pills and I'm real and ready to get back to work.

Which, let me tell you, after eight days of zombification? Eeek! My to do list is longer than Santa Claus' Bad Republicans list. ;-)

Yesterday I went and bought a pair of good sewing scissors. Now, given all the money I've blown on weird things over the last thirty-mumble years, you'd think I would have just *bought* good scissors. No. That would be easy. Reasonable. Completely lacking in martyrdom. (yeah, yeah - I'm a dork.)

Still. Oooh. Scissors.

drive-by posting

I am not dead.

Go me!

Today? I went to the gym. I made green olive and roasted red pepper hummus for my lunches this week. I washed my car. I saw a baby rhinocerous on the highway. (No, I wasn't high... well, okay, I probably, legally *was*, but there was a zoo animal transport dealie and inside was a for-real baby rhinocerous and I spent entirely too much of my afternoon wondering what sounds baby rhinocerouses (rhinoceri?) made). Uh... George went to Daddy's for retirement. Daddy was the single most adorable daddy in the history of daddies on his motorcycle. The teenager learned how to put a light kit on the ceiling fan.

Now? It's late. I'm off to dream of rhinos.

Happy birthday, Shadow

11 months ago, we found a box of 4-week old puppies in a parking lot. We rescued one, saying we'd train him, get him fixed, and teach him manners and then get rid of him. He weighed 4 lbs.

Now he's a year old. He weighs 94 lbs. He's trained, fixed, still learning manners and part of the family.

Our moose puppy.

Happy birthday to him :)
