Here. Busy. Working.

We spent forever installing the new office furniture. It's got plusses and minuses, but all-in-all it's nice.

It's been quiet today and I'm really tempted to go out to the grocery store or something, but the weather's yucky and I'm busy.

Me and Livejournal

Just a quick fyi -

If you're used to interacting with me on LJ and have something you need me to know, please drop me an email. I haven't read livejournal since... well, regularly since last spring, but at all since October 2008.

It's not personal, it's just that my life is better without that particular stage for drama. :)

I have everyone's (where it's possible) lj's subbed from bloglines, but that doesn't pick up friend's locked posts.

So, if you need me/want something/just want to check in, please, drop me a line. I'm not gone and I still care. I just...

I'm invested in my joy and I refused to participate in things were I can't find it. :D

In other news? I'm happy, I feel good, spring is coming. I have my Ls, my girl, the dogs. I have figured out how to knit hats and mittens. I should, if I finish P's other mitten, start on socks this week. I have added another 3 workouts a week, cleaned out more clothes from the closets, and am sort of loving playing Air Hockey on the Wii.

would I write, even if you weren't reading?

Yes and no.

Would I write what I write? No. What I write for a living, I do for cash. It's my job. It's a good job and I love it, enjoy it with the passion of someone who is truly, honestly lucky in their profession, but no. This is about money.

Would I write? Sure. Just like I have for almost forty years - slice of life, horror, poetry. Those ten thousand little stories that I give myself half an hour a day to indulge in. Men with tongues cut out and dead babies and horrible family secrets. Cancers of the soul and bubbles of laughter (that phrase - bubbles of laughter - has always and will always be colored by my sister, by the memory of sitting in the dining room in Independence and watching her in her diapers with huge green eyes (she's the pretty one; I'm the smart one) laugh at the boxer. I swear to you, the sound hiccupped out of her in bubbles). Faith healers and dead Texas Rangers and post men working in the dead letter office with the world crashing down around him in a flood of envelopes. Ancient bookstores with a wooden owl sitting on the counter, the glass eyes following everyone, cat's claws threatening from under the shelves, that smell - you know that smell, don't you? dry and dust, but always with a hint of mold and age and fading glue that is the smell of dead tree-paper - clinging to your skin as you look for promises in old words...

Those words are a calling, a religion, the closest I'll ever get to god.

Happy birthday to me :D

So far it's been lovely - all hour and twenty four minutes of it.

This birthday is a healthy, happy one, although part of me feels like my second birthday is going to be August 1 from now on. My when-the-pain-stopped birthday.

*grins*

I have no complaints. I have a job I love. I live with people I love. I have glorious friends, dogs of joy, and the life I always wanted. I have my baby girl

Life is good.

*kisses all around*

Working, getting ready for the travel year to start

Things are going along pretty well.

All new year's resolutions still solid.

I can't believe it's almost my birthday. More than that, I can't believe my baby sister (who shares my birthday) will be 20 on Friday...

I'm making her fingerless gauntlets for her birthday, as that's what Daddy thought she'd like (in purple camoflage yarn, no less). I'll finish the first one tonight after work. So, obviously, they'll be late...

*grins*

All-in-all, I have no complaints.
